Review: Flawed by Cecelia Ahern

Celestine North lives a perfect life. She's a model daughter and sister, she's well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she's dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.

But then Celestine encounters a situation where she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule. And now faces life-changing repercussions.

She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found FLAWED.

In her breathtaking young adult debut, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society where obedience is paramount and rebellion is punished. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her-everything.

I still remember when Cecelia Ahern had her PS I love you out, it was so huge and it turned me into a big fan. After that I would always buy her books without even reading the blurb. But few years later I somehow got caught up in the YA genre and haven't read any of her books since. When I heard that Celelia is bringing out her first YA novel I got very very excited. I believe there has been many mixed feelings about Flawed, which thank goodness never put me off. Because I freaking loved this one. I can sort of see why people that are fans of Cecelia Ahern have been having split opinions. Because this isn't your usual Ahern book, but if you love YA, then this is a fantastic book.

The story is about 17 year old Celestine, who is perfect in every single way, which is great because she lives in a world where being perfect is the only right way to be. If you are not, you will be forever branded flawed. And when I say branded I do mean branded, literally, with a hot iron. But that's not even the worse of it, because once you are branded Flawed your life will never be the same again. Your rules will be different from everyone elses in a very scary and awful way. So when Celestine makes a mistake, her biggest fear is ending up branded. Her whole world could be about to completely change.

This book leave you with so much food for thought I don't even know where to begin. Let me tell you that when I say Celestine makes a mistake... its not something we would ever consider calling it that. Almost all the Flawed have been branded for mistakes that are just plain human. Its not a world I would like to live in. But the way people then continue to treat the Flawed is even so much worse. Sadly history has proven that humans have been treated in similar ways before. Which is what makes it so believeable while reading.

Cecelia has proven, not for the first time I might add, that she is an amazing world builder. She has produced a world that is in one way very far from ours and at the same time very similar. She has delivered some amazing characters. Not just the main ones but the villain is one amazing character too. Let me tell you, he scares the living day lights out of me. Carrick is one person in the book I cant wait to find out more about.

This book was a complete rollercoaster of emotions. It broke my heart in places, it made me incredible sad, it made me happy and it made me very proud too. There was scenes in there that made me cover my face, if this was a movie I would certainly be hiding behind a pillow.

Celestine is just amazing, she is probably one of my new favourite fictional characters and I am so glad there will be more of her.

All in all this book has been FLAWLESS!! I love it!! I gave it 5 stars and I am going to shout about it for a while. Its the kind of story that will stay with you for some time.

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy in exchange for my honest review!
