Review: Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between by Jennifer E. Smith

On the night before they leave for college, Clare and Aidan have only one thing left to do: figure out whether they should stay together or break up. Over the course of twelve hours, they retrace the steps of their relationship, trying to find something in their past that might help them decide what their future should be. The night leads them to family and friends, familiar landmarks and unexpected places, hard truths and surprising revelations. But as the clock winds down and morning approaches, so does their inevitable goodbye. The question is, will it be goodbye for now or goodbye forever?

Charming, bittersweet, and full of wisdom and heart, this irresistible novel from Jennifer E. Smith, author of
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, explores the difficult choices that arise when life and love lead in different directions.

This is the story of Clare and Aidan, they have been a couple for some time and they find themselves facing their toughest decision yet. To stay together or not to stay together. They have only one night left before they leave for college. On opposite sides of the states, they couldn't be further apart soon. Now on their one last night they want to relive their firsts and decide once and for all about their future. But how can you make a decision like this? When the heart says one thing and your head another... What will they decide when the night is over?

The night doesn't quite go as planned. And while their heart fights their head they probably have one of their most crazy nights together. Together with their friends they face the past, the present and the future.

This has been an absolutely adorable book. It describes a struggle many young couples face before going off to college. The characters have been really quirky and likeable. Clare and Aidan are a very sweet couple, coming from completely different backgrounds they couldn't be more different. But they just work perfectly. However this is much more then just about Clare and Aidan. Its about friendship, family, growing up and saying goodbye.

I have enjoyed this book from the start to the finish. Forever rooting for them both. It has been a charming and quick read. I can recommend this to anyone who likes contemporary YA. Smith is a fantastic writer and I for one cant wait to read more from her in the future.
