Weekly Wrap Up and Stacking The Shelves

Weekly Wrap Up

This week I have finished 3 books! Yay. Normally only manage 2 but I had 2 child free afternoons and managed that one extra.

The first book I have finished was Secrets In Phoenix by Gabriella Lepore. This one has been send to me by Oftomes Publishing and I absolutely adored it. Full of magic, secrets and love. An amazing new Series to sink your teeth in.

Blurb:When Sophie Ballester and her twin brothers Sam and Todd are uprooted from their home and sent to a remote boarding school run by their Great Aunt Ness, they stumble upon a hidden room that holds a secret—a secret that will change everything.

The people of Phoenix Holt are not what they seem.

In fact, nothing is.

The 2nd Book I have finished is Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard. This was such a beautiful heartbreaking story. It will make you cry. It will make you smile and everything in between. I received this book on Net Galley.

Blurb: I was brave
She was reckless
We were trouble

Best friends Caddy and Rosie are inseparable. Their differences have brought them closer, but as she turns sixteen Caddy begins to wish she could be a bit more like Rosie – confident, funny and interesting. Then Suzanne comes into their lives: beautiful, damaged, exciting and mysterious, and things get a whole lot more complicated. As Suzanne’s past is revealed and her present begins to unravel, Caddy begins to see how much fun a little trouble can be. But the course of both friendship and recovery is rougher than either girl realises, and Caddy is about to learn that downward spirals have a momentum of their own.

And the 3rd book was Don't Be Afraid by Daniela Sacerdoti which I have received from Black & White Publishing. I really enjoyed this one but don't want to say to much as will post my review tomorrow.

Blurb: When you've forgotten how to live, help can arrive in mysterious ways… Successful artist Isabel Ramsay has never come to terms with the tragic death of her mother. Haunted by what happened, Isabel finds her own life spiralling out of control until, one winter’s day, she gives up, unable to bear the pain of living any longer. Yet somehow she wakes up, remembering a vision of a mysterious woman who has saved her. But alone in a locked house, surely that’s impossible? With her family and friends worried out of their minds, her husband Angus finds a companion to watch over Isabel while he's away from home. Warm, wise Clara can connect with Isabel in a way no one else can, helping her face up to her painful past, rediscover her passion for art and become brave enough to live her life again. But there’s a mystery surrounding Clara: who is she, and why does Isabel feel she’s known her all her life? Don't Be Afraid is a beautiful, life-affirming story of how even the most difficult struggles can be overcome and how help can arrive in mysterious ways.

Stacking The Shelves

This week I have received 2 amazing books.

The fist one is Viral by Helen Fitzgerald, which I have received from Sophie at Faber and Faber. The blurb sounds amazing and I can not wait to read this.

Blurb:So far, twenty-three thousand and ninety six people have seen me online. They include my mother, my father, my little sister, my grandmother, my other grandmother, my grandfather, my boss, my sixth year Biology teacher and my boyfriend James.

When Leah Oliphant-Brotheridge and her adopted sister Su go on holiday together to Magaluf to celebrate their A-levels, only Leah returns home. Her successful, swotty sister remains abroad, humiliated and afraid: there is an online video of her, drunkenly performing a sex act in a nightclub. And everyone has seen it.

Ruth Oliphant-Brotheridge, mother of the girls, successful court judge, is furious. How could this have happened? How can she bring justice to these men who took advantage of her dutiful, virginal daughter? What role has Leah played in all this? And can Ruth find Su and bring her back home when Su doesn't want to be found?

And the second one is Bookishly Ever After by Isabel Bandeira. I already had this on my Amazon wish list, so you can imagine how excited I got when Spencer Hill tweeted about this being on Net Galley. I was over the moon when this got aproved. I want to squeeze this in as soon as possible.

Blurb: In a perfect world, sixteen-year-old Phoebe Martins’ life would be a book. Preferably a YA novel with magic and a hot paranormal love interest. Unfortunately, her life probably wouldn’t even qualify for a quiet contemporary. But when Phoebe finds out that Dev, the hottest guy in the clarinet section, might actually have a crush on her, she turns to her favorite books for advice. Phoebe overhauls her personality to become as awesome as her favorite heroines and win Dev’s heart. But if her plan fails, can she go back to her happy world of fictional boys after falling for the real thing?
